Before you start learning how to skateboard, you need to know the basic features related to skating and skateboarding. You must learn how to stand on the skateboard. There are two ways of standing on the skateboard regular and goofy. Learn both the ways and use one in which you feel more comfortable.

In the regular way of standing on a skateboard, your left foot is in the front of the board and the right foot at the tail portion. In the goofy way of standing, your right foot is in the front and the left is at the tail.

It will be better for you to practice a lot before you actually get into the sport. This will make you sure about the standing position you are more comfortable with. You need a lot of patience while you learn how to skateboard . Since, you will fail a hundred times before you become an expert at it.

There are several moves and flips that you can do on your skateboard but for beginners it is necessary the primary moves are learnt. After this, they can move on to the higher level of moves. The beginner's tricks are Ollie, Nollie, Manual, Kickflip, Heelflip, Noseslide, and Boardslide. Besides moves, there are grinds that you can perform when you do Ollie with your skateboard on a bar. Grinds may be boardslide, 50-50 grind, 5-0 grind, blunt and many more.

Ollie is the first step towards learning skateboards tricks. You push the back end of your skateboard and the front part rises upward. After this, you put pressure on the front end and the back end rises off the ground. You need to practice it very carefully since you might hurt yourself by falling flat on the ground. It would be better for you to learn Ollie while standing on the board, instead of protecting it while moving. Nollie is just the reverse of the Ollie.

Bend your legs and knees when you land on the ground after a jump. This will save you from breaking your limbs and your skateboard as well. Do not raise the level of Ollie at once. With regular practice, you will be able to Ollie higher.

The next step is Kickflip. It is somewhat similar to Ollie, but a little more difficult. You have to learn how to spin the skateboard in the air. Keep on doing Ollie and then, in between, slide off your front foot and kick down on the edge of the board. This will make your board go spinning in the air at 180 degrees. You can use your back foot to scoop and spin the board easily.

In Heelflip, Ollie off the ground and when your board is in the air, flip it with your heel. The skateboard will start rotating and then slowly land your feet on it. If you touch the rotating board with your foot, it will stop moving. In Boardslide, you ride against a trailed or inclined object.

Skating is a fun and adventure game. But it needs a lot skill and tricks to handle it on snow. You need to be very careful and your feet must be firmly held on the skateboard's griptape. A skateboard is made of three essential components: the wheels, trucks and the deck. A skateboard deck is a plywood board which is usually 8 inches wide. A skateboard that is a bit wider is stable and durable for long travels. Less wide boards are used for skating tricks such as kickflip or heelflip.
