There are grooves on it that lead the strings to the tuners. All these three components collectively form the ‘neck' portion of the guitar where you need to concentrate. You will produce different notes by placing your fingers at various places on the neck.
This neck is extended to the ‘body' of the guitar. The shape of the body of guitar varies from guitar to guitar. Electric guitars have a solid body and ‘pick-ups' instead of ‘sound hole'. ‘Pick-ups' are tiny microphones that captures the sound of strings and amplify them. ‘Bridge' is a component on the body of the guitar where strings are fastened. Metal strips on the surface of the neck are called ‘frets'.

If you are sitting while playing the guitar, the body of the guitar will rest on one of your legs.
The hand that is close to the neck of the guitar is called the ‘fretting hand'. Keep the thumb of your fretting hand at the back of the neck of your guitar and position your fingers, curled at the knuckles, above the strings. Buy at least nine or ten guitar picks of different shapes and sizes. Medium gauge picks are a better option for beginners. The hand close to the bridge is called the ‘picking hand'.
