Meditation is actually nothing but a breathing exercise that is a cure for almost all diseases. Tranquility of mind, healthy and relaxed body is all ensured by meditation.  

Now if we step ahead to answer the question ‘ how to meditate ?' the first thing that should be taken care of while meditating is your body posture. You should always sit straight. That is to say, your back should be straight and in case, it is difficult for you to have a straight back due to any health problems or any other, keep a cushion behind you for the support. Meditation is ideal when practiced regularly as it has great healing powers. It mainly involves concentrating on the breathing part and establishes a relation between the humans and nature. This gives an outlet to the negative thoughts to go out from mind and body, and at the same time, it brings in positive thoughts. This helps an individual to build up an optimistic attitude towards life.

Another point that should be considered while meditation is that, the place where you choose to meditate should be peaceful with abundance of fresh air. This will help you to build up your concentration. Concentrate on your breathing and slowly inhale and exhale from your nose. Also, do not try to accomplish a lot in a few days. As a beginner, you can start from meditating 5-15 minutes a day and then gradually increase your time. Regular meditation helps you reduce stress, anxiety and takes you away from the everyday worries of your life. Always wear comfortable and loose clothes at the time of meditation. If you are too stressed to meditate, do a few stretching for a few minutes and then meditate to beat stress. This also helps you to keep a check on your emotional outbursts. It is always better if you meditate after taking a shower. Spending a few minutes in water, purifies your mind and helps you to relax both physically and mentally.

Furthermore, you can also play a slow and instrumental music in the background initially if you are not able to concentrate. This will stop you from getting distracted from all other things and noises around you. Last but not least, is that it is advisable to practice in the presence of a professional or a learned man for the initial few days to ensure that you are not doing it wrongly. These are a few basic that should be taken care of when learning to meditate. Initially, you may find it hard to concentrate, but regular practice will make you perfect, just as the quote says ‘practice makes a man perfect'. The only thing you initially need is the determination to do it.
